In 2017, Mola B.V., producer of unbaked, frozen bakery products, expanded its modern building with 4,000 m² of extra space. The contractor Martens Bouw asked us to apply a coating to the cellular concrete walls of the new expansion on expedition and freezer in the building of Mola.

The Request

The expansion featured Hebel aerated concrete walls, known for insulation due to air-filled cells. Despite being porous, Mola sought a sleek finish resistant to condensation and easy to clean. Our coating achieved this by rendering the walls impermeable to dirt and moisture.

Phasing

Surface must be dry to prevent blistering due to moisture evaporating with temperature changes. We test for up to 4% moisture content, repair damages, & seal joints with RibbSeal. Then, we apply CorrFill Primer BN to fix the wall & ensure adhesion of RibbFill Control Coat, applied in two layers.

Completion

The walls receive a durable coating, resistant to dirt and moisture, preventing condensation and dirt absorption, ensuring dryness and hygiene, facilitating cleaning, eliminating dust emission, enhancing Mola's modern factory appearance, and aligning well with its needs.
